Katherine’s approach to sculptural forms is evolving. She is exploring ways that natural fibers – pine needles, bark, vine, grasses – clay, and wire can combine to translate form, balance, depth, complexity and simplicity. She is motivated by the dichotomy of combining industrial materials with natural fibers and inspired by the shapes occuring in nature – landscape lines, meandering forest floor roots, intertwining branches and brambles, and more.
