TACOMA STUDIO TOUR

Spotlight on Studio Tour Artists

Discover the heart of Tacoma’s creative community during the Tacoma Studio Tour. More than 100 artists will open their studios to the public, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their workspaces, tools, and creative process. Visitors can explore a wide range of art forms—from painting, printmaking, and ceramics to jewelry, glass, woodworking, and more.

In the weeks leading up to the tour, we’ll be featuring special artist profiles right here. These spotlights will introduce you to some of the talented artists you can meet during the tour and give you a preview of their work and inspiration.

Catch this week’s featured profiles above, and be sure to scroll down for even more artists and studios participating in this year’s Tacoma Studio Tour.

Angela Howard

Angela creates abstract collages with vibrant color and geometric shapes that evoke a sense of place through architectural and landscape elements. Materials include her own painted papers, printed and handwritten text, fabric, and ephemera. Angela’s studio practice is in a shared space with other artists called “Studio B.”

Kaitlin Lloyd

Kaitlyn Lloyd creates bold, emotionally resonant acrylic paintings rooted in realism. She specializes in vibrant portraits that capture feeling through heightened color. Based in Tacoma, she weaves Pacific Northwest elements into murals and commissions that honor identity, reflect shared stories, and foster connection, pride, and beauty in community spaces.

Stephanie Meredith

Stephanie’s mixed media paintings grapple with landscape, memory, personal history, and perception. With a play between depth and flatness, the space she creates acts as a convergence of abstraction and place. Her most recent work deals with landscapes and the extractive relationship we have with the earth.

Liz Morrow

Liz is a multidisciplinary artist primarily working in linoleum relief printmaking, as well as wood carving and acrylic painting. Her work focuses on exploring ideas of home, nature, place, identity, and rootedness and often involves an interplay between bold, graphic visuals depicting plant and animal life, and typographical elements.

RECESS

Retired Savages is a decade+ photo/video team that works nationally creating ad campaigns. In 2025 they opened a photo studio in Hilltop called RECESS. It’s a place where play meets art. They will be opening the space to youth artists to present a show called “Listen Up!”
